For years, Square Payroll locked employers into a fixed payday — a constraint that didn't reflect how different businesses operate. Restaurants pay weekly, retailers pay bi-weekly, service businesses have their own rhythms. The inability to match payday to their payroll cycle was the top reason mid-market employers cited for not switching to Square.
I led design for flexible pay date selection within Square Payroll, working closely with product and engineering to design a system that handled the complexity behind the scenes — tax timing, direct deposit cutoffs, compliance rules — while giving employers a simple, intuitive way to set the day their team gets paid. Within the first quarter after launch, new pay schedule creation jumped 60%, and the feature became a key talking point in upmarket sales conversations.

I have a background in advertising and marketing, and found my way into product design through motion graphics. These days, I still occasionally animate things just for fun.
Outside of work, you'll usually find me traveling, hiking, playing tennis, or somewhere at a music festival. I'm also an avid gamer, and a lot of my inspiration comes from experiences that spark wonder and delight.
Here are a few things I've been into lately.
