Employers managing teams across Square Payroll and Square Staff were dealing with two separate, disconnected systems — each with its own employee lists, invite flows, and settings. Adding someone to payroll meant repeating work already done in Staff, and vice versa. The friction was especially painful for small businesses where every minute counts.
I led the design to consolidate team management into a single, unified experience across Square Payroll and Square Staff. The new system gave employers one place to add, manage, and pay their team — with a shared employee record that eliminated the need to enter the same information twice. Retiring the legacy flows reduced support volume, accelerated onboarding, and laid the groundwork for a more cohesive Square workforce platform.
I have a background in advertising and marketing, and found my way into product design through motion graphics. These days, I still occasionally animate things just for fun.
